20 knots!

From nz is for lovers

From nz is for lovers

one of the highlights of the north island for us was taking out a sailboat - a tri-maran! - on the bay of islands. it was just the 4 of us and the captain, and he had us tacking the boat and driving. the weather kept fluctuating and we passed in and out of small rainstorms. the wind picked up while laura was piloting and we hit 20 knots. i'm not sure how fast that is, somewhere near 20 mph, but on a boat in the wind, its fast. diculous fast.

this is laura right when we hit 20 knots, when the captain decided he should take over for the girl who was about to pee her pants.

we're shaking the dust off of our backpacks and leaving for south america in a few hours. new zealand was a blast- combine our traveling partners, unparalleled beauty in the countryside, and a 3.0 liter turbo diesel and you can't go wrong.
